Class 19 - Standing Poses with the Wall as Teacher
In this class of Standing Poses we use the wall as our teacher and friend to help ensure the alignment of the heels, hips, shoulders and head throughout our asana sequence. After using the support of the wall, we practice the poses away from the wall to internalize the the experience of abiding in the back body. The wall teaches us awareness of the back body, which we can lose touch with in our “forward facing” orientation in daily life. The back body is the unseen, unconscious and unintegrated part of our being that we bring awareness to and inhabit in this practice, and this can have a profound effect on our life.
“Because you cannot see the back, it is forgotten. The back must be activated in all the poses.” BKS Iyengar
